Default Options to recondition exterior moldings

Morning,

Just wondering if anyone has reconditioned the black plastic moldings around the soft top, windows and door. I resprayed my car a few months ago and have been wanting to fix these up. My options from searching are below.

1. Pay to get new moldings. Tried to find them used but they are hard to find. New it would cost around 500.

2. Sand the ones i have now and spray them. I read someone recommending this on another post but never saw the final product. They said to use a semi-gloss black paint.

I would try to fix what you have for the price of new. Not sure what peices your wanting to repair but there is alot of products that can revive rubber and plastic to bring back black luster. If it is a paint/ coating that is comming off a oil base spray paint may do the trick. I would try a small sample peice to see if it works.

I noticed on my steering wheel in a small area the coating is removed and I thought a airbrush of paint might do the trick as well.

Good luck your car looks nice!

Try to polish them with Plast-X, then treat them with 303 Aerospace to keep them protected , you could even wax them or apply a sealant similar to what you might use on the body.

I replaced the trim on the top of the doors as the rubber parts were spitting, they were easy to do.

Ok ill give that a shot and see. Want to avoid buying them new at all cost. They arent in terrible condition now but with the car now freshly painted, they kinda stick out a bit.

I use armor oil tire cleaner on the exterior plastic around the exhausts at the wipers. It reconditions them and makes them look black again. I haven't reapplied in over 2 months and it still has a black luster
