Hi,
I got a pair of AP2 taillights that have spots and smears inside them and I wan't to open them up and clean them up. Do you bake them like the headlights?
I've seen a RIO AP2 that had his opened up and the taillight silver trim was painted RIO. I can't find it though.
Any suggestions or directions on how to?
we used a heatgun to take apart my brothers escalades headlights. It was simple, just took a little time. But as stated above dont overheat or you will deform plastic. The oven also works and you dont have to meticulously heat up the entire perimeter of the housing.
Oh boy, sounds like fun! Any idea what temperature? and for how long?
to be safe, i would recommend 3 minutes @ 300'. im sure others have different formulas such as 6 minutes @ 200', or such. but i am very confident with what i use daily.
i have not opened up the s2k tails (yet), but i use this time and temp for all my other headlight and taillight builds.

i did 3 minutes at 300 . just to be extra safe. if your still having trouble you can just throw em back in for a couple more minutes. remember the adhesive is REALLY thick and if your gonna use something to pry open the lens from the housing, then dont pry against the lens, because numerous people have broken the lens. pry against the black housing good luck!
Thanks guys. I might try this myself then. They have been opened before by a previous owner. The amber turn signal lense has been sprayed red and then there are spots, and smears, etc,. on the inside lenses and the black housings. Im hoping to remove the paint too.
