why anyone would want to run their F2XC on anything other than fully synthetic oil is beyond me
They probably run it because regular oil works just fine.

Synthetic oil is better than non/semi-synthetic oil in terms of S2000 specific application.

You can switch vice-versa as many times as you want with no ill effects, but why anyone would want to run their F2XC on anything other than fully synthetic oil is beyond me
Not like this engine takes so many quarts of oil. Synthetic is the way to go unless you are changing your oil every month and cost is an issue...

that is why i brought this up, i always use Synthecti and will continue to do so.
about the "Vtec softener" myth, i read it on our forum a while back, and dont inderstand where that came from eighter

When I have to add a quart every 1000-1500 miles, it can add up. So, I'll stick with regular.

Change to what ever you like but keep the same brand at topoff. Above all, maintain adequate oil pressure even if you were in a bind and had to add synth to regular or vice versa then do a change at your next convience. Mixing brands or types could interfere with the additive pkg that each brand has. These are propriatary and could cause you to lose one or more of the benefits that each company designs into their oil. Interfering with these pkgs would have no effect short term.

So you bought the car and can't afford to run it?

Synthetic only i'm afraid, and a good synthetic at that.

The engine is under a lot of stress at 9000rpm, any car respecting owner would know that

that is not the case here, i understand that S2000 is a very special car, and i love mine, but some owner tent to forget what they have: a Honda. and what made Honda a Honda is their reliability and practicability. i am pretty sure that Synthetic oil is good for our cars, but it doesn't mean that Honda recommended oil is NOT good enough for our car. Honda did put a lot of thought into building this little roaster, so i wont hesitate to use what they recommend. my car also burn a lot of oil as well, and i still use Synthetic, but i dont mind switching back to normal oil if needed.
Honda engine could take a lot of abuses, i wont believe that it would fall apart because you use Honda oil
