OK ... its three days old ... where do I start?
I am now the proud owner of a stock S2 (Silverstone/Red) and need to know where to start.
The obvious problem is low end torque, so I am guessing my first mod would be a new set of lungs and maybe a more substantial manifold ... what is recommended or should I just build a CAI?
Then what? I am not looking to spend a fortune (well ... not yet! ) but all the mods in the posts in here seem a little beyond my means for the near future ... so how about taking a few steps back and try and remember the first really effective upgrades you employed.
I hear the arguments about supercharger vs turbo and then of course which turo to use, so I will wait and see who wins the argument and then choose my side ... so what simple changes can I be working on in the mean time that won't void my warranty!
Getting a little more punch between 2 and 5K would be my primary goal ... although in 19 years of driving and racing I have to say I have never driven a street car with so much between 6 and 9K ... in fact come to think of it, I've never driven a street car that draws blood at 9000rpm EVER!

AEM or Injen cold air intake is a cheap way to add a few ponies. VAFC with Harness so it doesn't look like you modified the car. This will involve some dyno tuning. Probably the best bang for your buck though would be to get some 4.44 gears. You will feel the car is more responsive in the low range with the shorter gears. Unfortunately, there is no "cheap solution" to mod this car. FI or N20 seems the way to go to get real power.

A real sweet but inexpensive mod is a label maker. You can get them at most office supply stores.
Be sure to make plenty of labels reading "CHECK YOUR OIL"
I recommend a label on your rear view mirror, side view mirror, and gas cap. But feel free to label items around your house as well. That way you'll NEVER forget to check your oil.
PS. Sorry to be a smart-a$$, but many people neglect checking their oil and they end up purchasing one of the most expensive mods, a new engine!

Actually, I'd strongly suggest becoming familiar with the characteristics of the car/engine. The only way to boost low-end torque is through forced induction but that doesn't help that much at 3k RPM. On the other hand, if you simply downshift to keep the ngine in the sweet spot (>6k RPM), you won't be disappointed. This engine is made for revs, not for trying to be another Camaro/Mustang. You want torque? You bought the wrong car. You want fun and are willing to use the potential of the engine? You got the right one.
Downshift. It's not that hard and provides a much more satisfying drive than puttering around like you've got 5 liters of engine...
Oh, yeah, and it's free!
