I like Royal Purple myself, mainly because I burn less oil with it.

Some people really don't like Royal Purple however.

Amsoil has the best characteristics of all the oils that RoadRage tested. Mobile1 was in the middle, Royal Purple was strictly average. IE, it gets the job done. If I was a track junkie I'd probably use Amsoil. I may try it in my next oil change for grins.

I stick to 5 qt jugs of Mobil 1 for $21 at walmart. The combination of price and quality is difficult to pass up.

While I won't lambast stitos2k for using an oil that works for him Royal Purple is not worth $5.50 a quart.

First, if you're going to use a synthetic, mobil 1 gives you much better bang for the buck. Second, if you're going to use a synthetic, you can go 7500+ miles between oil changes no problem. If you're gonna use synthetic and change it every 4000 or something, you're just wasting your money.

Pennzoil Platinum is cheaper than Mobil 1 at Walmart. Also, Road Rage said on Jul 18 2005: "the new Pennzoil Platinum has a more advanced base/additive package than Mobil 1". This telling me that it is better. But the synthetic oil I am using now is Valvoline MaxLife, it is free after rebate from Valvoline: http://www.valvoline.com/maxlife/microsite.asp

I use synthetic oil for all my cars, I am doing 10,000 miles or 1 year OCI whichever is first for my S. The other cars have 12,000 miles or 1 year oil changes.
