Oil temps and monitoring
few questions about oil coolers and oil temps here.
first off i wnana moniter the oil temp in the trans and rear diff to see when they are "warmed up" little more. i got by feel normally but id just like to keep an eye on things. anyone have any idea how to mount a temp gauge in tehre? i was thinking of drilling out the very center of the drain plugs and inserting a probe in there.
2nd question. if i wanna run a trans/diff cooler do you need an electric pump to circulate the oil or is it done by osmosis?
i really dont see how you could get the poil to circulate without a pump.
also are there any "s2000 specific" kits you can use?

Probing them via the drain plugs would be the easiest route. Just make sure you spin them by hand to make sure the probe tip isn't going to hit anything.
No osmosis going on there though. There's no fluid gradient, it's all one fluid. That OEM rear diff (torsen) doesn't generate a whole lot of heat vs. a clutch type, but just change that fluid more often than the book suggests. It doesn't hold a whole lot of fluid to begin with.
