Anyone use German Castrol? Is it good for our cars?
I've been using GC in my moms bmw and in my subaru for years with excellent results. Good oil.

I would have no qualms at all about using any Lubrication Engineer's product. Question is, is it available at a reasonable price?
GC is a terrific oil ... a very thick 30 weight ... which is probably the reason you seem to notice the engine is quieter. I have also thought that an add-apck high in moly will also quiet down some noisy engines ... especially the "knocking" sound you get from piston slap.
We're lucky here in North America ... so much good stuff to choose from.

LE 8130 is definitely not the cheapest oil on the market. But I wouldn't expect an enhanced lubricant to be cheap like some of the commercial offerings.
8130 cost me $200/case (24 qts) including tax and shipping on my last order (month ago). That works out to be around $50/year for my oil and filter changes. Of course it costs me more if I decide to test a sample. But curiosity does that to me sometimes.
LE is really easier than I thought to get. You just call them on the phone or email and tell them what you want. It's delivered in 2-3 days and you get a bill about 30 days later. No problems so far.

I switched from Mobil 1 to Valvoline syn power. Car felt smoother, and burned less oil. I am now considering switching from Valvoline to Amsoil..

Fact:
I have used two different oils in my cars. First was Mobile 1 in my prelude, and S. I installed a catch can because I would go through a quart every 3,000 miles. I noticed my can was actually receiving oil.
I switched to Castrol Syntec and my oil consumtion is about 1/4 quart per 3,000 miles.
I also have ignored the change your oil everyone 3k miles. Oil, and filters are so much more advanced now I switch it every 5k miles, some people go longer. This also depends on how hard you drive.
Personally if you want a valid test get a Vis test.
