I switched to Amsoil in my AP1 recently and it seems to be fine. Previously I had Mobil 1 in it and in my Galant VR4 (4G63). Both of them had issues with oil burning so I decided to switch to Amsoil based on the positive feedback from the board.

Hmmm... very interesting thoughts and opinions. What would be a good match for the s2000's engine would you say Saki GT? Not trying to insult your opinion but just want to know your take on this and everyone else is welcome to chime in also. AP1 goes 9,000 rpm and AP2 8,600? RPM redline. What would with stand this punishment? Not saying you will redline everytime but in case you fill the need to in such conditions.
I don't have any reasons not to use RP - just want you to know the science behind the marketing hype. The first question is synth or conventional oil, then what you are comfortable with. If you like RP, no reason not to use it as afaik it meets the current API standards, but the marketing is bullshit imo - discredits the brand when you benchmark a meaningless statistic. Based on that and the fact that you can get lots of other good oils at the local stores, usually on sale, I don't have any reason to go track down RP.

Ive had no complaints about RP. 4 months, 2500 miles, it still looks new. I have a few blackstone labs test vials that im going to send it for testing at 5000 miles, maybe 3000 if i get impatient.

I just ordered more RP for the engine, and redline for my trans and diff. Ill send in the trans and diff samples to blackstone at their next intervals.

If you can do this for us, that would be great! Also, if you can afford a little extra testing, ask for a TBN and TAN test for the engine oil. For the diff and tranny samples, an additional TAN test would be great to have too. And if you feel really ambitious, try to get a virgin sample test on any of the lubes too.

I'm not a RP user, but I'm willing to look at performance data before commenting on any lubricant.

Royal Purple is crap. It was originally designed to help tired muscle car engines. It is a low performance oil, meant for use with sloppy old V8s, not tight modern engines. I would never run RP in my cars.

Off the shelf, any big brand synthetic is fine...I use Mobil 1. Top shelf, look no further than Amsoil.

Not sure about the new RP, but back then RP is known for caking up turbo, maybe something about the high rpm and temperature combination of turbocharged engine.

I would love to see some test results. Any one know of a place that sells Amsoil for a lower cost price other than the site itself? What would you guys recommend for the mileage I have (95,xxx).

Highly doubt you'll find anyplace cheaper than the website. You can buy a membership for $20 and get a discount on the oil, but rather it's worth it or not depends on how much oil you'll buy in a year.

If you want to switch to Amsoil with you high mileage then you will probably want to run their high mileage prep kit. I don't know exactly what it does, but I know if you are over something like 36k and you want to start using amsoil there is a additive you are supposed to cycle through the engine and then drain and replace your oil. Otherwise I think you are likely to burn more oil.

I used GC in mine for awhile. It's OK, but based on some UOA's that I've done, I think there are better choices out there.
