I switched to Amsoil in my AP1 recently and it seems to be fine. Previously I had Mobil 1 in it and in my Galant VR4 (4G63). Both of them had issues with oil burning so I decided to switch to Amsoil based on the positive feedback from the board.

Not trying to insult your opinion but just want to know your take on this and everyone else is welcome to chime in also. AP1 goes 9,000 rpm and AP2 8,600? RPM redline. What would with stand this punishment? Not saying you will redline everytime but in case you fill the need to in such conditions.

I'm not a RP user, but I'm willing to look at performance data before commenting on any lubricant.

Royal Purple is crap. It was originally designed to help tired muscle car engines. It is a low performance oil, meant for use with sloppy old V8s, not tight modern engines. I would never run RP in my cars.
Off the shelf, any big brand synthetic is fine...I use Mobil 1. Top shelf, look no further than Amsoil.

Not sure about the new RP, but back then RP is known for caking up turbo, maybe something about the high rpm and temperature combination of turbocharged engine.

Highly doubt you'll find anyplace cheaper than the website. You can buy a membership for $20 and get a discount on the oil, but rather it's worth it or not depends on how much oil you'll buy in a year.
If you want to switch to Amsoil with you high mileage then you will probably want to run their high mileage prep kit. I don't know exactly what it does, but I know if you are over something like 36k and you want to start using amsoil there is a additive you are supposed to cycle through the engine and then drain and replace your oil. Otherwise I think you are likely to burn more oil.
