Hey guys,

I took the S2K for a longer than usual drive. Somewhat spirited. But inside my cabin it kept smelling like oil. I checked the engine bay and everything seems clean. No oil spills. I checked the differential and no leaks there and the transmission seems free of oil leaks as well. I know AP1's burn oil but it didnt seem like it smelt like burnt oil. It just smelt like unburnt oil. Can you guys help me pinpoint the problem.

oh i didn't check that. Do you think that could be the issue?

also check for spilled oil near the exhaust header....the cabin intake gets air from the exhaust header side of the car

Get a second opinion on the smell, maybe you're nose is extra sensitive.

When you say longer than usual drive, how long is your usual drive? I used to live 4 miles from my office and only occasionally took the S to work. After a hard run, 20 - 25 miles it seemed like the exhaust system burned off road dust and oil that collected during the short drives. Just a mild oil smell but to a car guy, it smells like sex.

Thanks for your input guys. I did a little snooping around in my trunk and found a puddle of oil lying underneath the jack. Turns out that i had a litre of unused oil and somehow, the container burst and that's how the oil spilled everywhere. It was infact transmission oil. Do u think that the oil will cause problems with paint??? I cleaned it as best as i could. Any ideas on how to properly get rid of all the oil and smell other than soaking it all up with a cloth???
