Half a quart in 5500 miles is nothing... I would start to worry if you were burning closer to a quart every 1000 miles (which was still within reason on the AP1).

My worst AP2 customer burns 1 quart ever 400 miles. He has 270k.

You are doing quite well

seriously?

1/2 quart in 5,500 miles in an s2000 forum. you know, instead of sympathizing with you, we would give you a trophy for outstanding s2000 engine of the year.

but to answer your question, go ahead and give 5w40 a try, no issues. if your budget allows you to stick with amsoil signature series, by all means stick with it.

otherwise, give motul x-cess 5w40 a try.

you need to appreciate your engine rather than worrying about the 1/2 quart in 5,500 miles.

I appreciate everyone's feedback. I do plan to keep using OEM filters as I learned from the start that they are one of the better options for the car. I also plan to send off an oil sample (as I do periodically) and hopefully *billman* will be able to double check my valve adjustments at deals Gap this year! I guess for now I'll stick with the 10/30 signature series as it's not extremely expensive when I use the preferred discount.

There are so many oil threads, but personally.. I always run OEM honda filters, no exception.

For oil I just use Castrol Edge Full Synthetic, 10W30, changed every 7500 miles with new gaskets each time, as I have a pack of 20.

Which gaskets do you change each time? Or are you talking the aluminum crush washer?

Thanks!

Sorry for not clarifying, yes you are correct, just the oil drain plug crush washer.

No problem! Thought I might be missing a gasket or two.
