Doug your right and your butt meter isnt lying. It is faster! When you wait a long time to change the oil and then you do it fee's up lost power.
As for the oil. If you or a friend has a card at Costco I get my 6 quarts for only 20 bucks. Of course dealers and shops get it for like half that!!! Bastards!(V.T.)

Pinky, my dealer pays MORE for Mobil 1 than Costco charges. The parts manager showed my his costs and recommmended that I go buy at Costco. Unless the dealers sell a LOT of Mobil Oil they can't match Costco prices. BTW, the Costco here only has 10-30 in Mobil 1, what can you get?

FYI, Car and Driver's Patrick Bedard wrote an article for the November issue talking about the Castrol Syntec product. Interesting read. Should be posted at www.caranddriver.com soon or it's still on the newstand.

BTW, fleet studies have shown that oil maintains its properties to lubricate for many miles (~12-15K) but it picks up contaminates and the additives deteriorate, so changing based on the calendar is at least or more important than the odometer.
