Oil Question - Low Mileage
Sorry but another oil change question! I just bought an 07 with only 2600 miles on it and the car was bought new in Nov of 07. So regardless of the mileage the oil is still almost three years old.
I'll be doing my own oil changes, I've read threads about break in oil being used and etc and was wondering what you folks would do. Switch to a synthetic motorcraft 10W30 or Mobil 1 or stay with a dino oil since the car has such low miles on it. I do plan on using the OME oil filter.

The rings have been seated by this point. Even from the factory they are already properly seated.
I would do a synthetic. OEM filter or a top rated oil filter.
Drive it hard for a 2k or so..and then do an oil change..A magnetic plug would not hurt either. You can do an oil analysis and see what comes back.
My GTO was broken in pretty hard from the get go..and have always done well in dynos compared to other cars.
Same thing for my Bike. Its about 5-6whp then the average.

Wow...did they buy the car and not drive it? Such low mileage on an 07 - car must be near mint!!! First off, good find.
Second - I think you would be ok switching to the oil of your choice. OEM filter is probably one of the best ones out there, so can't go wrong with that. As long as the oil meets your needs and the minimum requirements from Honda, you should be fine.

You should change your oil out at least once a year regardless of mileage as there can be debris, moisture, or other contaminants in there over such a long period.
