Mine is 70-75 at cold start, at idle. The when the engine is warmed up above 150deg the oil pressure at idle drops to 25psi. Anywhere in the rev range below 4K the gauge is 70psi or less. above 4k, 70-90psi.
Get the same thing as slow pretty much. Running stock oil cooler and Greddy sandwich adapter with a Nordskog digital gauge.

At idle though it's pretty much around 20-25psi, but when the car has been running for a while or idling for a bit, it may drop down to rarely 15psi but more around 17psi around 40-45 Farenheit.

I just got my car back and had an oil pressure gauge installed.

Cold start-up idle - 75 - ish

Warm idle - 25ish

3k warm engine - 82-85ish.

This is a brand new shortblock (156 miles) using a non-synthetic 10x30 oil.

When I killed my rod bearing, I think I had less than 10 or even lower at idle. The new short block was installed and I had 6psi! It turns out I had a bad VTEC solenoid. Put on a new one and am getting the figures above. I have set my warning light to blink at 15psi as even at warm idle, I have not seen my car dip below 22. I am a novice with what the car should be etc so this thread is good.

Thanks,

Anthony

I'd have to say that you guys need to mention what weights of oil you are using as that is pretty important when relating to pressure. Typically the thicker oils have a little higher pressure. I'd also assume that everybodies pressures are good. The ones in the 80's when warm and cruising are probably the people running 10-30...those in the 90's-100 are probably the 15-50w's

I thought the relief-spring/valve was only activated when the oil was cold and pressures were well above normal. If that's the case, the shims won't increase oil pressures when the oil is up to operating temps. That would require a pump with different clearances.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

10W30 oil. It is really cold here so when I start my car the oil pressure is about 85psi at idle I think. Then it sloooooowly goes down and somewhere around 30psi the 3rd bar comes on indicating it is warm. The pressure will continue to fall to about 20 though after at full running operating temperature. Slows2k could give a better engine temperature reading since he has that gauge apparently. I am not driving the car until I get that 3rd bar / ~30psi because my shortblock us new.

I recently fitted an oil cooler, and at the same time a temp/pressure gauge. I've observed the following:

Oil pressure without the cooler starts at about 83psi cold idle, dropping to around 20psi at idle - normal operating temp. Pressure at 3000 rpm is about 84 warm, rising to over 90 as the revs rise.

Oil pressure with the cooler starts the same cold, is actually slightly higher at warm tick-over, (possibly due to cooler oil) and runs at about 72psi at 3000rpm warm. As the revs rise, it stays in the high 70s.

So I reckon I
