you end up with stuff in the oil screen pickup because you arnt letting it set up long enough. The cure time is important, i would complete the job and let it set up overnight so that the RTV isnt still workable and able to get loose front hot oil and into the lube system.

The stuff I'm talking about is from the factory engine assembly. Mine has never been apart.

Yes, the gunk I found was from the original factory assembly. And when reassembling, I did let the new stuff cure for 24 hours before adding oil and running the engine.
