OP did you check your oil before and after you started up? What are your readings now?

Going into v-tec is exactly what you don't want to do. More RPMS = more oil pressure and with 6 quarts of oil, youre asking for trouble. Drain some out. Yeah, you'll get your hands dirty, but it's better than snapping a rod, right?

Ok, I'm nervous enough now that I'll drain a half a quart to be on the safe side. I actually already took it to the V-tech range a couple of times. Hopefully I haven't done any damage. Thanks again for the responses.

I'll definately drain some out now. Is it possible that I could have hydralocked the engine and damaged a rod, or is it pretty obvious when that happens? I didn't hear anything horribly wrong with the engine while driving. I've driven about 15 minutes or roughly 12 miles since the oil change.

tdcs2k, you are fine. you'll know right away if there's damage. its rare, but trust me it can happen as I have seen it.

Just read the stick, level ground, BOTH sides. Both sides must match. I find putting the stick in backwards helps with false readings.

Top of the top X is all you want. anything over, drain it off.

Here's your incentive to not overfill

Screen name SB2007.

Customer decided to add and extra quart for the dragon, didnt check it first.

Upon measuring there was 6.75 quarts in the engine. top of piston and valves soaked with engine oil.

Another reason the quick drain valve is useful. You can drain a little bit no problem

Wow... That is graphic. Point taken. Top of the top X. No more. Thanks again!

The engine oil filter is easy to remove, empty, and then replace from above. Do this a time or two and you will be good to go if it's not a major oil overfill.

Yep, it's too important to leave to someone else who is not making much more than minimum wage (the quick lube shops) and why pay dealer prices when you can easliy do it in less than an hour yourself.
