Default oil oil oil

ok my s2k has 61,000 on it and i got it when it had 60k i want to change the oil and trans fluid just to be safe. but i dont know if i should go full syn or semi. plus the weather here is just about to break into spring and if im not mistaken 5w-30 is for winter and 10w-30 is for summer rite. and should i be using 30 or 40? this is the first time changing the oil on this car and i want to do it right. plus i have heard that i should put 5 quarts in then let it run to circulate then shut off and just top it off. cause it hold about 5 1/2 or so rite. sorry for all the questions but i just want to do it rite and not half ass it ya know.... and i know everyone has got their own opinion on which oil is the best but i would still like to know what some of you guys run... THANKS GUYS

There are tons of threads on oil if you want to see what others are using. I'm currently using Amsoil's 10W-30.

10w30 year round is fine unless you live in the arctic or death valley.

I would put in synth regardless of what was in there before. Any popular brand is just fine: Mobil 1, Penzoil Platinum, Valvoline, Red Line, Amsoil, Royal Purple, etc.

Start with 5qt, circulate, check later. Anywhere between the L and H on the dipstick is fine. You don't need to top it up to the H. 5qt puts me a little above half way, and I always just leave it. If you check the oil level right after you circulate it, you will not get an accurate reading. Hot oil takes 3-5 min to drip down and give you an accurate reading. Cold oil takes much longer.

Great info on all kinds of stuff at the top of page one in this forum. Helped me do a lot on my own. Do some exploring!
