I think his were either an odd bad batch or a supplier issue. He is in Germany. Not sure where Honda over there sources oil filters. Like if vendor uses a different factory to supply different markets.

All baby blue filters are made by Mahle in Thailand, they should come with a free can of Red Bull.

And virtually no one else has had this issue with the Honda filter. So there was something else going on there. It makes no sense to think the filter design is faulty or we would all have this issue.

The only other reports I have ever heard of the oil light staying on longer than normal (Outside of this thread and what Matchbox said) is after people swap the Ap1 banjo bolts to the AP2 ones. Never heard any issues from it, just that they notice the oil light stays on an extra second or so.

The only time I've had oil lights stay on (using proper oil) during cold starts or come on at stoplights is when the main, cam, or rod bearings are out of tolerance.

It's too late to change oil filters; the engine needs a rebuild.

Normally a new filter cures it. Guessing you got a bad batch of filters.
you think that’s the problem?? I’ve already changed the filter twice with new Oem ones this specific one only has like 100 miles on it. I noticed the oil light staying on for a second on startup awhile ago but it never made the knocking on startup until recently.

I’m guessing my knocking on startup is definitely the bearings…. I literally just had the shop replace the bearings like 200 miles ago and it’s been knocking on startup ever since

Yes, my engine has the upgraded Banjo Bolts. Regarding the "Problem" i also think that most likely i am one of the very, very few persons who actually care about the time the oil light takes to go off. I bet 90% of the owners just dont care.
Yesterday i started my S2000 again after 5 months of Winter storage. Oil light went off in 1 Second. I would call this "Perfect". Non OEM, smaller size oil filter.

Interesting about that banjo bolt. I have an AP2 (US) engine. The oil never stays on for more than 1/2 second on startups. Even after changing the oil (I do half-fill the new oil filter).

Do you know why putting AP2 oil banjo bolts into the AP1 block causes this momentary low oil pressure on startups?

Are the oil pressure sending units different between the AP1 and AP2?

Thanks!

When I heard people talking about this, I checked mine, 1 second and the light is off for sure. I would say less as it turns off as soon as the engine speed comes upon starting like my others cars do.. OEM filters, stock banjo bolts. Oh and that was the first time the car has been started since early November so I would say worst case for sure. It has been sitting on a Battery Tender since then.
