Oil light staying on longer
It seems since my last oil change where i went from mobil1 10w-30 syn to Valvoline maxlife 5w-30 syn my oil light stays on like half a second longer on startup.
I'd say normally you start the car and the oillight is off withing a half second. Mine stays on at least a half. Sometimes it flickers withing that half second - once.
Never flickers during idle like i've read before.
So indicatior that something is going out, oil pickup blocked or so? Or just plain paranoia?

Soooooo oil sending unit tired in combination with GA heat and paranoia and mix in a little "wrong" oil and it all makes sense.
So seriously nothing to worry about?
Seriously 10w-30 is wrong? Don't have a manual so i couldnt read up on that. Damnit. And i don't think maxlife makes a 10w-40 syn. GRRRRRRRRR

Ok, i remember one of the experienced people in here advising me that in the heat of GA 10w-30 would be a better choice then the 5w-30 i was running.
But to get back to the actuall question, it's like a combo:
Add me to the FL "i have a knocking sound coming from my engine" people. I've described it many times, irregular slightly louder then valve tapping and not particular at any rpm. You cannot hear it at higher rpm. +
Had a valve adjustment done and valves sound better, tapping noise still present
+
Oil light stays on slightly longer then usual.
= Rod knock? Spun, worn bearings?
I havent had a chance to pull the oil pan to look at anything. I decided to just roll with it. The dealership listened to it and said everything sounds normal.
So, worry about the oillight?
