^^ check it in the morning and I'm pretty sure the oil level will be over the H mark. You are about .8 quart over filled which will damage the engine.

^^^ My experience mirrors this. Filled mine to 4th X and 2 hours later it was the same BUT next morning it was at the 5th X. It takes a while for the oil to settle after a pour, it seems. I think you may have added too much.

It happened to a customer of mine at the dragon. .7 quart overfull, the crankshaft smacked the oil hard enough to get it airborn and into the PCV system. The oil hydrolocked the cylinder, and he snapped a connecting rod.

Took an entire weekend to get a U-haul trailer and get him home.

Connecting rod bearing was in perfect condition. Cylinder wall was perfect. Inner intake runners, combustion chamber, and piston top were soaked with oil. After taking the engine apart, I was able to confirm with the customer he was .7 quarts overfill.

Billman250 said 0.7 quarts over is bad; xviper said 0.2-0.4 quarts may be ok. I don't see the conflict in their statements.

This forum is like panning for gold, after you screen out the nonsense, you're left with solid information and often humor. Not a bad use of time and bandwidth. My take away from this thread is just keep the level between the marks, if cold I'd look for it to be on the upper end, if hot I wouldn't worry if it's toward the lower end. Honda engineered in some elbow room IMO.

A perfect synopsis.
