Oil leaking...I cracked the oil drain valve..
Last time I changed my oil, I tighten it too much and I heard a crackling sound.
I said sh1t and left it as that.
Been leaking oil for the last 2500 miles until I decided to change it today.
Still leaking so I decided to check the valve myself.
Attached is a pic of the drain valve...
So whats my recourse ??
A short term solution ?
Like can I get some sealant or anything like that temporarily ??
I guess I need to change the oil pan out, huh ??
If I need to change the oil pan out, can I do that myself ??
Difficulty on a scale of 1-10.
Thanks for any help..

I'd have to mostly agree with the above posters. Start with JB Weld (if you're unfamiliar, you can pick this up at any auto parts store and it's extremely simple to use) and if that doesn't work purchase a new oil pan. I wouldn't want to weld that piece!

Thanks for the help guys.
I will try the JB weld asap.
I know eventually I need to replace the oil pan.
Been researching and a used oil pan is $100 so not bad.
Anyone know how hard is it to change it ??
I know you just have to loosen all the bolts around.
My only concern is how hard is it to loosen the bolts and making sure its sealed properly.

it looks like the crack is only the length of the threads, you can use a non-hardening sealant like Hondabond, or Loctite ultragrey on the threads of the oil drian bolt when you reinstall it. You will have to do that on each oil change but it is very simple to do.
man you really cranked on that sucker to break it like that, just snug it down next time, not sure if it will properly torque with the crack there.

Its alumnimum so its not the easiest to weld, you can use jb weld but i am not sure how well that will hold up. a used pan is only like 80-120 bucks on the fs fourms. I have 2 on there. lol
