Oil Filter Question
Can I use a FRAM oil filter from an 00-03 2.0l on my 2004 2.2l? The one that the FRAM book specs for the 04 and up looks tiny (TG6607 or PH6607). And the one it specs from the 00-03 (TG7317 or PH7317) looks like it's the right size (and matches the size of the off brand that is currently on the car from the previous owner).
(and I know there are better filters out there, but I just daily drive, and don't have the time to go to a Honda dealer. Besides... I've always used FRAM in all my cars and never had issues)

The book at Pep Boys specs the same, large diamater filter for 00-09 S2000s, and also specs the same small diamater filter for all other 00-09 Hondas. However, you can use S2000 filters on other Hondas and the small filters on S2000s.
With that said, it is well known that Frahm Extra Guard and Tough Guard filters use cardboard end caps and have a loose rubber anti-drainback valve. Does that mean you need to spend $10-$15 on an OEM or ultra premium filter? No, I buy the Purolator PureOne for $5. I cut one open and it has metal end caps, a silicon anti-drainback valve, and much better filter media. The only reason to buy Frahm is mindless brand familiarity, which in this case, does not equal quality.

So what you are saying is that my car will explode in a fiery blaze if I use FRAM.
I understand that it's not "the best" filter out there. In terms of internal materials used. But I've put well over 150,000 miles on various cars/trucks while using them and never seen a problem yet. So have hundreds of thousands of other drivers. The fact that they are leaders in the filter manufacturing game has to say something no?

I used a Bosch filter on mine last oil change cause I was too lazy to drive across town to dealer for the Honda filter.I opened several different ones at Auto Zone and the Bosch appeared to be a well built filter just from what I could visibly see.It was around 5 bucks.
