Oil consumption concern
#11
Proper break in can be a real factor.
I happen to have an 09 with 53K on the clock. I change oil every 3K because I like to. The oil level does not change one iota; it might as well be painted on. I use Mobil 1 0W-30. According the Bob is the oil guy, Mobil 1 is a pretty darn good oil. Yes, others are very good also but that is another thread. (A million of them)
The big deal with a synthetic 0W-30 oil is the protection it gives on start up. A 5W or 10W-30 cannot match it. There is more wear on start up than any other time short of oil starvation.
Mobil 1 is the only quality oil I have seen mentioned on the oil guy website (and others) that has the 0W. It is also $25 at Wal Mart.
I have not heard of additives "burning off" (unless there is an engine fire) with M1 but all oils are going to degrade over time and use. If there is, my engine will not suffer with 3K mile changes.
One last thing, my internals are super clean. I will tell you I have never done a UOA on it. Have not tracked it and with the low miles have never really seen a need to up to now.

Worried about 1qt every 3K miles?! Worrying about something else would be the easiest way to fix your issue.
Common things that lead to higher oil consumption in cars that are not "VTEC'd" often:
-extended highway driving
-Mobil1
-Clogged PCV or breather
Try using Castrol edge 0W30 or 10W30 (black bottle). Your consumption should decrease.
Always use a PCX oil filter. Torque it to spec.

1 quart every 3K miles is kind of a waste of the whole thread, to be honest.
Were you looking for an answer that you needed to immediately rebuild your bottom end? You can do that, but it would be a waste.

One quart in 3000 miles is okay, maybe a bit high for an ap2 but many ap1 owners would love to have that rate of consumption, lol.
With my car I can drive 600 miles in steady state highway cruising and not use a drop of oil, but in stop and go city driving and some cornering conditions the consumption increases at a much faster rate.
