Yes, and these little engines seem to run fairly hot.

--snip-- Is it possible that the oil is being turned into a gas or something lol>? its not burning or leaking so.
It's turning into mist, like a vapor, but not because of heat. It's the high RPMs associated with VTEC (>6000 RPM). Oil turns into fine mist, gets sucked out cc by cc through your PCV and valve cover vent, possibly other orifices.

Rubbish.

Those that say Synth burns quicker than Mineral are using the wrong oil or their engine is knackered.

A good quality synth is the best stuff to get for your S.

If all of a sudden you are using oil it is generally down to the fact that the oil has cracked.

Change the oil and all will be well again.
My AP1 started burning oil immediately on my first change to synthetic at 10,100 miles.

OEM oil changed at 7k, no burning.
Castrol in at 7k, out at 7,900, no burning.
Mobil in at 7,900, out at 10,100, no burning.
Mobil1 in at 10,100, burning like a champ up until the day I got krank vents.

100,000 miles later she is still running strooong.

But like kirpich said, it doesn't "burn", it gets turned into a mist and exits primarily through the valve cover.. hence why krank vents solve the prob.

What the heck are krank vents? A good quality synthetic should not burn off at all. RPM is also not the cause. My ZX-10 turns about 12,000 rpm and doesn't use a drop, so the oil "turning into a mist" is nonsense. Perhaps the AP1 crankcase ventilation system is flawed.

^Somewhat agree.

AP1's crankcase venting is not designed that well. That's why AP1s 'eat' more oil. That's why watching oil level on AP1s is more crucial than on AP2s. That's why there are more AP1s with tuned main and rod bearings.

That's why Google helps show that Krank Vent is a trademarked device, like a checkvalve for a breathing system.

But you can use something else.

That's it.
