oil Consumption
Well here are the mods on my car and info to give you a better picture...
Ap1 with 67k miles, invidia catback, invidia test pipe, kN drop in filter. I am noticing SEVERE oil consumption. Im having to add 2 bottles of oil or 3 between oil changes. I do not see any oil smoke coming out the back, the only thing i see is if i rev it to 9k rpm some black comes out but not much,i figure its just soot from my tets pipe. I do however smell OIL BAD. Im very confused, im not going into vtec, and im smelling horrible smells, but no visual clouds or smoke coming out the back. My question is what kinda of money would it take to replace the rings, adjust pistons, valves w/e it is that is doing this.

Here's one of about 10 threads about krank vents and oil consumption:

yes, NA cars can still use them. kane could elaborate more on their uses in turbo applications, but for NA cars the krankvents seem to be a valid solution for oil consuption.
Another option you can try is running an application of Auto-Rx. It's a cleaning additive added to your oil that does a pretty good job of breaking down sludge slowly in the engine and cleaning ring packs. A bunch of folks use it on the bobistheoilguy.com forums and have had measurable increases in compression.

krank vents seem to be a viable solution to high oil consumption, but I will always be curious as to why some cars show excessive consumption compared to the average vehicle. I lose about 1qt every 5-6k miles, but I would find 3qt to be very excessive.

Itll be a cold day in hell when i pay for a car that eats oil like a fat chick at dairy queen.
