oil consumption

43,000 miles on my car! I ended up burning a half quart of oil last oil change......it went like 4,500 miles on that oil change. I was running it hard too. So it does burn a little oil even though the car is fully broken in. VTEC eats oil. And I love VTEC land!!!
If your still burning oil after your 2nd oil change say 8,000 miles......then start to be concerned. If after 12,000 its still burning.....WORRY!

I can tell that quite a few of you fellow owners have not owned a high-revving DOHC VTEC motor before your Stook. I have a GSR as my daily driver that has perfect compression and if you spend a lot of time in VTEC your motor will be much more likely to consume oil. Driven hard between oil changes my GSR may go through as much as 1.5 quarts (3000 to 4000 miles). Driven easy it may be 0 to 1/4 quart down the dipstick when it is time to change.
I checked my Stook at the first fill up and again at my second fill up today and it looks like it might be 1/4 quart low (no VTEC yet). Thanks to this board I am not alarmed.
Can anyone recommend an oil to use right now (still on factory fill) before I switch to synthetic? Honda?
Thanks,
Jimbo

I've had 2 Prelude VTEC's that rev to 7400 rpm every opportunity I can in 1st and 2nd gear. 3 NSX's that rev to 8000 rpm quite often at least in 1st. Tracked each of them and they do not consume more than an X worth of oil per 4000-5000 miles.

Ummm, My high revving DOCH VTEC motor spends lots of time between 6-9000rpm and like I said earlier, it doesnt consume more than 1/2 quart between 7500-9000 miles. This would be considered normal, any more than twice that would not. It now has 39,000mi
My S2K has only 480miles, but I won't be freaking out if I need to top it off every other fill up.
