Oil changed not 2 weeks ago, level is below 'L' on dipstick

All I can say is that this is common enough on very healthy cars that have used oil all their lives that it does not concern me. If your not seeing it from the exhaust, in the coolant, smelling it, feeling it in performance, or getting any concerns from Blackstone, it wouldn't worry me in the least. You even had it to Billman.
You could switch brands or replace the PCV and see how that effects consumption or drive easy for a tank of gas and see how consumption is. In the short time I have had my AP1 (previously had an AP2), I am convinced my consumption is either VTEC related or the oil being vaporized and sent out the PCV at high rpms. In any case the car runs great and other than losing oil I see no other indication of the car "burning oil". I keep a close enough eye on things that if there were a problem that led to failure I would like to think I would catch it before any major damage is done. At the end of the day though, I am either doing a total rebuild or buying a new engine anyway, it is too much work to just fix the immediate problem.

If you think about it, you are talking 3 pints in roughly 10hrs of driving. I don't know about you, but I would need to sip quite slowly to make 3 pints last me 10 hours!! It wouldn't take much going through the PCV to really add up.

The more I keep reading on forums I've come to the conclusion the mobile 1 isn't as good as it's made out to be. I hear a lot of it burning fast especially on this forum. I've always stayed away from mobile and have used catrol syntec on my rsx-s (130k) and also on my s2k

I too have an ap1. I was burning about 1 quart of 10w-30 mobile every 800-1000 miles, more with hard drives. I switched to castrol synthetic 10w-30 and now I burn a quart every 3000 miles, maybe more.

always check it before you crank it! mine has 232k on the the clock and i always check it before i drive it. if you drive it hard, it burns some and blows out the rest. these cars have high oil pressure when in vtec. try different oils and see if it changes. otherwise keep an eye on it. cheaper to check it and add oil than an engine change!

Replace the PVC valve and see how it goes, it maybe that simple a fix....good luck
I have a 00 with 46k and it uses no oil at all but my 02 with 50k miles used a quart every 1,000 miles or so. The 00 compression is about 250 on all 4 and the 02 was around 175 across if I remember right.
Has anyone done a pole on compression numbers compared to oil consumption on AP1 cars? It would be interesting to see if higher compression AP1s use less oil or not then that of lower compression AP1s.

Mine is 240 across the board, most consistent car I have checked (didn't even vary 2psi). Dyno #s are very solid indicating a strong engine and I am in the 1qt/1k club. Car has been since 65k miles and now has 135k, may have been all it's life, I only have records from the previous owner.
I don't think oil consumption can be linked to performance at all with these cars.
