It looks as though the oil filter is easy to get at without jacking up the car. Can the oil drain plug be accessed from above too? Is it possible to change the oil without ramps or a jack?

Yes, it is possible to do this. But you need long, monkey arms to reach the drain bolt
.
I find it best to lift the car up onto jack stands, allowing more room for the drain pan, and also allowing me to crawl around under there and give the undercarriage, engine and suspension a good inspection.

The first time I changed the oil, I positioned a ratchet wrench with a 4 or 6" extensionfrom the bottom. Then reached down from the top. It was a pain in the butt. On the second oil change, I jacked the car up (I kept the car on the jack, but positioned a jack stand for safety. Much easier, and the time it takes the get the jack out and put it back is worth the few minutes of inconvenience.
