Okay,

So I go to do my first oil change since lowering the car on Eibachs and I no longer have enough room to slide the drain pan under the car. Oops. Even if I jack up one side for access (as XViper suggests), I have to lower the car back down for proper drainage - correct?

My thought is to get a second set of ramps and drive it up onto four ramps.
Anyone done this - or any other bright ideas?

My other thought was to use my sloped driveway. Rear end on the high part of the slope - ramps on the bottom part of the slope under the front end. This just may produce a "level" car attitude, with the ramps.

With all the DIY folks out the AND the aftermarket suspensions, this must be common. I could not locate the solution with the "search" function. Believe me, I tried that first because I hate no-brainer posts. I don't think this is one of those.

get some rhino ramps - drive the car up on the ramps. get a good solid floor jack and jack up the rear and use jack stands in addition to the jack on the pumpkin. now you have a car thats plenty high to do most under car work.

You can get a floor jack uner your pumpkin? I have less than 6" clearance from the ground to the pumpkin (just measured it). Seems I'd have to use the factory jack on the side to raise it high enough to get the floor jack under there. Major PITA, when the end result will be the same as using 4 ramps. The ramps will be cheaper than a floor jack as well, since I already own 2 of them.

Don't you think ramps would be easier and safer than jacking up the car and putting it on jack stands?
Instead of pulling out the jack and tools, cranking on that slow rising jack, and placing stands one at a time........just drive the car up onto the ramps? Maybe just me.



and Dave22, you have a good point with the tube, but I'll still need to get under there to attach the tube - right? Can you reach the valve and attach the tube from above? That just may be the way, if accessible from above. I know the valve handle is, but not sure about attaching the tube.

If getting a collection pan under there for draining, go to Safeway or some other supermarket and get a large shallow aluminum baking tray that will hold at least 6 qts of oil. You may only be able to use it a few times but they are only a few bucks each. Also, you will have to be very careful when you pick it up for emptying.
