Default Oil change interval

For those of you running Mobil 1, how often do you change your oil?

To my mind the point of using a synthetic is to gain a more comfortable extension between changes. I now use the maintainance minder as the que and change at approx 5500 on the OD. If you are going to pay the premium for using a synthetic there has to be some notable benefit and the extended miles between changes is it. If you prefer to do your changes at half this milage, your better off using a regular and less expensive lube which is fine.

Not currently running Mobil 1 but you should get a UOA to determine if your intervals are suited to your oil, driving style and car's health.

There are definitely more advantages than just extended drain intervals.

^Thanks for the comments.

I plan to send my oil to Blackstone once I change it out. My last analysis was done on a 2000 civic, at 8500 miles, the oil had a little bit more life left. since I'm only pushing 4500 miles on the current oil, I am debating if I should leave the oil in the car for another 500 miles. Hopefully the oil analysis does not come back with a negative surprise.

I'm going for about 7,500 as recommended for normal driving conditions...I figure since it is a full synthetic and I do drive the piss out of it some of the time that it's a fair interval...if I were using regular dinosaur oil I would be doing oil changes earlier considering the way I drive it

I have gone as far as nearly 10k once but that was just pushing back the oil change over and over...but lets be fair the intervals that are in the manual are conservative just like a lot of stuff is over-engineered...and if you're at least using similar intervals with the synthetic you'll be more than fine...even using my gauge (on synthetic using the normal driving interval even if you're driving aggressively at times)
