don't feel too bad man.
I changed the oil on my mom's accord. The old filter o-ring was still stuck on the motor and I ddn't know. But the new filter and, filled the oil, cranked it up...well, i bet you know the rest.

However, my '00 consistently takes 5.5 quarts at an oil change with filter. But 5 will certainly be enough to allow the car to be driven home.
