Oil cap is gone

Damn the same thing happen to me the oil cap fell behind the engine.
I had to take the valve cover off and dis connect some hoses to get a lll bit of space to get my arm back there. Boy was it a pain it took about 2 hours. Now I make sure I screw the cap on tight

I gave up after nearly retrieving it a few times. I think it is still there... eventually it stopped making noises so it is either wedged somewhere or got smashed into smaller pieces and fell out

finally happened to me..during a track day of all times.
I tried using a coat hanging to pull out the cap Accidentally pushed it somewhere deeper between the engine/transmission and firewall and can't see it anymore. I can't to where I think it is from the top or bottom of the car.
So...how do I get my oil cap back?

I've lowered the trans by unbolting the rear mount from the body. That gave enough room to get the cap out.

When i dropped mine it went down by the header, and then i almost got it, and knocked it down to where it was sitting right on top of the header by the cat. Ugh it was a pain in the ass.

If the cap is where 99% of them wind up it is between the firewall and the bellhousing. With a good amount of work it can be retrieved without lowering the engine most of the time.

A couple weeks ago I went to our local clubs meeting for the first time. I mentioned a rattle and one of the members wisely said it might be the infamous oil cap rattle. Since then I hadn't had the time to look at the car to see if this was the issue. I purchased the s2k in January and I finally had time yesterday to go through all of the previous owners receipts to create a maintenance log that lists date/mileage/work performed. One of the receipts was for an oil cap! Hmmmm, now I have to check for this!!!!! My first look down behind the motor and there it was, the oil cap sitting there between the firewall and the transmission. You could see where it had been wearing for years. Luckily I have skinny hands with long fingers. With the help of one of those grabber tools, 15 minutes later I finally had the little bugger out!
