oil cap fell off
#11
sorry to hijack this old thread, but i found the cap, i wasn't able to take it out yet.
i tried to get at it with a hanger, but no success.
i did get a new oil cap though...
but now, i'm experiencing significant vibration in my clutch pedal.
could this be from the oil cap getting jammed in something down there?
or would this be caused from something else?
i guess i'll need to get this on a lift and try to go at it from below.

The oil cap WILL NOT come out on its own, that's a proven fact. I also posted it a few posts up. It has to be fished out from the top with a coat hanger. It is on top of the trans bell housing most likely.
And yes you will have all sorts of noises and vibrations, including through the clutch pedal, if you don't fish the cap out of there.

Put new cap on, check oil level, go hit it on some curvy backroads, she'll come out, guaranteed.

Lost mine also many year ago. It became wedged between the transmission and tunnel behind the firewall. Put the car up on a lift and fished around for it. Could see it with a flashlight from the engine compartment by looking back on the top of the transmission.

Sooo, my turn for this mess.
Got a new cap to drive it back home but I have some noise at around 2-3krpm. Im guessing the cap fell in somewhere.
Anyone got any pointers on how to get it out? Perhaps paint me a picture of how you bent your coat hanger to fish it out?
Anything else?
