our engine works on oil pressure to generate power in the second cam lobe to go into vtec. with a breather, I speculate that you will lose power. also, there is no room for a breather. it will either pop off and oil will be splashed inside your engine bay or it will just not stay on unless the threads are the same. most breathers are just pop in breathers that just sit in the threads.

most breathers in the hot rodding world are just valve cover breathers and replace the oil fill cap. if BlueS2000Boy is referring to something like what you describe... then I dont see a problem.

I don't think it is going to give any power change, but it might look neat (or crappy).

I think he's referring to what is traditionally used on H and B series motors, that works as Greg described.

AFAIK there are no oil ingestion issues with the F20C (through the manifold) which is the only reason I see to use on (NA). For FI, it's a good idea to reduce the ingestion of hot, incombustible gases that might help with detonation. I think this is a marginal issue, anyhow, given the F20C's hot nature, so even then I don't think it would yield any "results."

Breathers are one of those ricey items that is usually installed by people who don't know what they do nor care.

I guess you would replace the inlet tube AND the PCV valve with breathers? Wouldn't that just make things hotter, since you wouldn't have any cool air "sucked" through the valve cover?

i put it on and test drove it, i notice its seems a lot louder now with the breather. but i also feel like it is much smoother in the higher rpm ranges. i know i didn't gain any power from it, but i lik the way it sounds. i don't know if i am going to keep it though.

The idea of circulating air through the crankcase is for emissions- I believe any cooling effects would be negligible. The main point is to have the crankcase vented and not sealed (otherwise you can blow seals out).
