Oil Brands
Ok guys... My 03 is approaching 3750 miles quickly. I read many posts about oils. (including normal vs. syntheric) I decided to stick with normal oil until 10K miles.
Now, down to three choices, Castrol, Mobile 1 or Honda Dealer brand. ( I don't know what that is)
Which brand you are using and why?
Thanks.

Your poll should reflect what people use or did use when their cars were at the same "pre-broken-in" phase.
Anyway, you said you are going to stay with non-synthetic oil for now so you don't want to be using Mobil 1 as this is synthetic. Honda dealer used to use (and may still) "Mobil" (no 1). It is generally more expensive to by oil from the Honda dealer and their oil is nothing special. Go with Castrol, Penzoil, any name brand oil out there. Stick with 10W30. Then when you are done with the breakin and you would like to go with synthetic, then start with Mobil 1 as this is the most widely used, most easily found and most reasonably priced of the synthetics.
ps. I now use Mobil 1. Its quality is well known. This has served me well for almost 2 decades in all my cars. Why change now?

I used castrol non synthetic till 8000 miles then switched to castrol syntec-blend, then at 1100 miles to castrol syntec (full synthetic). I have always used castrol...but who knows, maybe ill give mobile one a try next time. It just depends on what I decide on when im at the store

whatever you do...don't use honda dealer oil....im not sure if this is true for all dealers but the ones in So Cal use 5w30 for all their cars.... i yelled, complained and even pointed out the oil cap where it says 10w30...... but they just looked at me like i was retarded and said all s2000 use 5w30.....anyone know if there would be any damage if using 5w30 (i used it between 5k - 8k miles) .... i didnt find out i was using it until i asked the dealer what oil was going to be put in on my 8k change....then i quickly gave them the finger and went elsewhere.....

I use Kendall GT1. As per xviper, I've used Kendall for 3 decades. Current BMW has 287,000 miles and at 200k, when replacing head gasket, the original cross hatching on the bores was still visible.
