Bearing damage can often rear it's ugly head later down the road when you least expect it.

Keeping the motor out of VTEC and avoiding hard cornering could be the difference between a dead motor and one that survives in those situations.

Time will tell.

There were no odd sounds so I was really hoping for the best even though it seemed like I most likely destroyed something.
Wasn't the engine bay an unholy oily mess after dumping 4.5 quarts through a damaged oil filter?

Do you have an oil pressure sensor?

Oil was all over the underbody and back of the car. Complete mess.

1/2 quart isn't enough to get oil up to the oil intake screen inside the oil pan, that thing must have been sucking air for a bit of time.
