ohhh, ohhh... first-to-second gear grind
i've noticed over the last couple of weeks with my MY 02 (now appx 2700 miles)... gear grind when i shift between first and second under full throttle acceleration... shift point is about 8000 rpm.
at first, i thought it was just a mis-shift or mis-clutching, or just pulling back to hard on the shifter in the heat of the moment. i've tried different shift timing, clutching longer, etc. when i run up the rpms in first and then let the revs back off a bit before shifting into second, the shift goes smoothly.
any ideas? do my symptoms sound like the MY 00 and 01 tranny issues? i'm a little nervous shifting now because of the grind and not wanting to ruin my tranny...
help?!!??
thanks in advance, - marc

I haven't had this problem on my 02 yet...maybe is because I am too use to shift very careful in my 00 for avoid grind.
this is so new....that I can't think about anyway to solve other than let the dealer to check your car.

The only thing i can say is since the s2k is a real sport car..... treat it like a sport car don't be shy to rev up to 8 or 9000 rpm if you want to shift. Your transmission is on warranty so if it doesn't take that kind of shift this is HONDA problem ....not your's.
They sell it like a top of the line car so if they didn't built it right you don't have to pay for that ( slow shifting, drive slowly, bla bla bla...... )
This is my opinion buddy if you want to drive differently it's your choice and i respect that. Take care !

Read this post by Woodwork. He works for Honda and describes how to better shift to avoid the grind.
