Hindsight is always 20/20. That being said it is always a good idea to check on the web before one digs deep into the wallet for anything. You never know who might be able to save you a few bucks. Now get your car together and break it in right and have fun going it.

In this pic, take off the oil filter and head gasket. This is exactly what you get for 3200 from honda.
A complete motor minus the cylinder head. ALL BRAND NEW, not remanufactured...AND it comes with ap2 spec cylinder liners. So you get a 2.0 that burns no oil
Comes complete with timing chain installed, guides, oil pan, oil cooler, crank pulley and bolt, updated oil jet bolts.

With 170K on it, the head needed some work. The exhaust guides were worn so the seats needed to be ground.
BTW, the shop said that the other s2000 motors had work exhaust guides too so it may be a common issue.
The best price I found for new engine was something like $3300 for the block and $2200 for the head. But then I'd have to pay for putting the engine together, adding sensors, etc. I decided to go with the rebuild for $5500 since it was the complete cost.
I got the car back on Friday just in time to tuck her in my garage to protect it from Irene.
