I feel kind'a stupid asking this, but is there any way for an over-rev to damage ONLY the plugs? Am I overlooking something?

There's nothing about an overrev that puts the spark plugs at risk, at least not until the valves and pistons start shredding each other. After that, there's no part in the engine that's "not" at risk!

The last time I saw a trashed plug the valve head that did the damage was embedded in the piston crown.
