It's within the dyno's margin of error, you'd see no difference.

It's an airbox cover, I doubt there's a significant amount of horsepower "hidden" there.

I don't know if it is true but do you know if the AP1 air filter is bigger than the AP2?

Actually, I just noted that the 2 parts code for the element, air filter are

17220-PCX-003 for Ap1 and AP2 up to 2005
17220-PZX-003 for AP2 2005->

I believe the second one is smaller, I wonder why...

Cool information, I think the split pipe would be worse at 9000 rpms and not as good on an ap1. Just a wild guess ?. On my ap1 box I added the ap2 rubber seal under the front snorkel, and a second ap2 rubber seal that goes on the top of the divider wall, lastly I also added the ap2 metal spring on the end of the intake tube that keeps a tighter seal/grip on the end of the air filter.

Old but interesting thread. The split runner is a sound management feature IMO.

Ok,bringing this one up from the dead. Anyone know the answer? Does the ap2 2006 have a smaller filter? Is this whole filter size wise or diameter inlet size wise?

The stock '06+ air filter will supply more than enough air to a stock engine. I run a restriction gauge on my intake to tell me when my air filter is getting to restricted, I'm up to 65k miles on this air filter and it is just now starting to show any restriction.

To me it is interesting that the 2006 and up use a slightly bigger throttle body,but have this modification on the air box. To me the split may be there to reduce turbulance . What I am curious about is what exactly is different about the 2006 and up filters.
