Note; this might have been covered already... I did a quick search and didn't find anything. If it has been covered, please bear with me.

So I bought an AP2 OEM intake the other day and I had a little time to swap the covers (mine has a lot of scratches from when I bought it). I noticed a couple differences with the covers itself...

The obvious difference is that the AP2 splits the air into 2 versus the AP1 which comes in as one. Note the white/gray stuff around the inlet of the AP1 cover is insulation tape that I used for my Kevlar snorkel. I wouldn't have need that if the AP1 came with this:



The AP2's came with this gasket (part # 17213-PZX-000 RUBBER, DUCT SEAL and goes for less than $10). So I simply used it for the snorkel and removed the crappy insulation tape I was using (which would shred anyhow):







Everything back together...


Anyhow... just some quick musings that I figured I would pass along...

Perhaps airflow testing showed better data with the new design. Either way, interesting tidbit and thanks for posting

My airbox cover looks like the AP1 version you show. Which year did you look up?

If that's the case, maybe it's an 06+ thing? The one on my 06 looks like the one posted.

Yeah just finished looking them up, the 06+ have the second part number.

Good catch guys... I just looked it up and it's not an AP2 thing... it's a 2006 (which is the one I posted above) to 2009 thing... werd...

^yeah. It looks as though the 06+ would smooth out the air nicely, but the AP1 would be able to flow a higher volume?
