Default Odometer reading after wreck

Hello everyone, I hate to introduce myself like this but im in a particularly tough situation. My beloved got totaled on saturday a result of a fire the only problem is i need to get the odometer reading for my insurance company or they're going to lowball me . Any suggestions as to what i should do to get the reading?..the fire was pretty intense and damaged pretty much everything in the bay. I dont know if i should remove the cluster or cut the battery leads and power the fuse to the cluster? Any ideas are much appreciated.
Thanks
Arthur

Find your receipt from your last service record.

you could take out the dash and run a 12v power to it, i'm not sure it will give you a odo reading. There should be a pinout somewhere on it

well my mileage had just gone over 40k but the insurance company says without proof they cant give me a decent price for the car. And my last service record was at 34k about 4 months ago. I work at a ford dealer so i do all my own service but usually dont make ro's for it so that 34k one was a fluke. I was thinking i'd have to take it out since most of the engine wiring is melted and i don't want to risk frying the odometer. Any other suggestions?
and thanks guys I appreciate all the help
