Or could be the cat too, in response to my post I just popped a CEL light and both my O2 sensors are bad. Not only that but my noise is gone now too, im about 90% sure my problem is the cat.

the car would only make the noise when the shifter area is hot. I had the inner shift boot out and my hand stuck in there and it wouldn't start vibrating until everything started feeling hot.

Since you're good at getting into the base of the shifter, why don't you treat it like the "ringing shifter" and grease the thing. It won't hurt anything and you never know, maybe it'll fix it.

I'm reviving this thread.

Sound has gotten more frequent. Feels like it is a bolt comming loose, but where's the bolt? There are a freakin million of them down in the tranny area!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have the same noise, it's not the shifter (in my case). I gotta get under the car and have a good look around the catalytic converter.
