Default Odd - Maint Reqd will not reset

So this is one I have not run into yet. All of a sudden, I can no longer reset the Maint Reqd light. Have made no electrical mods recently. Only real thing there is the Emanage which I have had installed for about 30,000 miles. But this last time it came on, I went through the normal steps to reset it and after turning the key on with the button held, the light comes on, then turns off like normal, then comes back on a few seconds later. Have tried it a few times now. Anyone run into this one before?

What are you doing exactly?

On AP1 you hold down the right most button on the dash for ten seconds with the key in and on the first position. Then turn the key to on, while holding down same button, then released when the light goes away.

Stupid question but does the trip button function normally? Maybe the button is broken all together. If you are following the steps correctly (Key Off, Press and hold the trip button and turn the key on engine off. Hold trip button until Maintenance light goes out These steps do not apply to 06+). If you are doing the steps correctly, I can't really think of a cause to this problem other than a faulty instrument cluster.

Yep that is what I am doing. It does turn off, then turns back on a few seconds later.
Trip button works fine otherwise.

I am going to pull the negative cable and try again to see if that does it. Didnt have time yesterday as I was heading out for a track night. Never had an issue resetting it before. May need to make sure I am waiting a full ten seconds too and that my impatient brain is not just counting super fast lol. Too much autocross..... 2 seconds probably feels like 20 to me!

hmmm tried it a couple more times and it worked. Could be either that I simply was being impatient (not impossible, but have never had this issue before so likely not that!) or maybe my trip button is getting a bit oxidized inside and thus I was not pressing it firmly enough. But in any case, it is reset now! thanks for the replies. I did notice recently that it seemed to take a hard press to reset the trim meter, but did not think much of it since I was driving when I did it and figured it was nothing. But could be that. Oh well, not a huge thing. If it does it again I may pull the cluster and try to clean things with some contact cleaner.
