odd idle problem when cold
I notice that my '03 runs really rough when I come to a stop and the RPMs drop almost to where the car stalls - then they go up to normal. usually this happens only when the car is cold. my old '02 used to do the same thing, so I'm guessing this is something farily common.
It's not really a problem, but it's such an annoing PITA that I'd like to get it resolved. Plus I don't want to risk replacing motor mounts down the road from the engine doing the bucking bronco...
Any suggestions or comments? Is this something to do w/ TPS?

I had a similar problem with a rough idle.
Does your car almost stall especially when you just touch/feather the throttle a bit... then revs go up a tiny bit then all the way down to almost dying or actually dying?
If so... check your 02 sensor (give it a whack or clean it) and check your air intake area for cludge. Hope that helps!

Sounds like the symptoms I'm experiencing. I guess it may be caused by the infamous right hander smoke screen. Last time I thought I pulled a Sato...
Will a dealer be of help? I don't really have any tools and would rather avoid wrenching if possible. Car's under factory warranty. If so how should I direct them to the problem? Again, once it's warmed up no issues - makes sense w/ O2 sensor.

S2000s of all model years have been known to do this. It is sometimes caused by certain environmental and driving conditions. Most cars will "learn" to fix themselves if the driver does not try to "help" it out by giving it gas to counteract the dipping idle. It may take a few driving cycles to learn and it may take a couple of years (it can be a seasonal thing) to learn.
If it does this all the time without any driver "helping", this is not normal. Try this:

i just whacked it! and it works!
Well i whacked it about 5 times pretty mild. Then i disconnect the battery and let it sit for about 5 minutes. after that i whacked it again just to let the car know whos boss. then i started up the car and let it sit, idling for about 15 minutes while i was watching part of a tv show. took it for a drive and it never went limp at a light!
A honda machanic is whom who told me to let the car sit idling for 15 minutes to allow the car to register and adjust to the idling.

My car has never done this. (knock on wood) It is not my daily driver and I rarely drive through town (once in a blue moon) I rarely let my car idle except when at a stop light. After about 10 or so drive cycles, my ecu learned how to idle when stopped.
I do most of my ing out in the sticks.
