Bigburp,

We've done dyno testing with 100 octane unleaded and 91 octane with differences of "maybe" 2 hp. I say maybe because dyno tesiting is as much an art as it is a science and the two horsepower lines "played" back and forth over each other so much we could not definitely say which way it went.

I'm am quite sure, although not 100% postive, that the only performance increase you will expereince from octane boosters is from the lighter wallet your car will have to carry around.

If you need the octane, i.e., NOS, super charger, or turbo, buy the fuel that is designed for that application. Race fuel. 103 octane is pretty available out there.

All the best,

Jim

octane booster is only worth it if you did anything to increase your compression(higher than 11:1 C/R). you need this since higher octane gasoline is more resisant to detonation.

otherwise on a stock car, its not recommended.

Like they say, "Speed costs. How fast do you want to go?"

I've always wondered why someone would spend the $$$ to up their hp either with compression, boost or NOS, and then scrimp on the fuel. I don't pretend to know much about octane boosters, but I do know that "real" gas (race gas) works. Why take the chance of accidentally "making parts", especially expensive parts?

I mean, I run NOS on my small block, 10.5 compression, Chevy and use 91 octane for driving around. But when I hit the Joy Jug it triggers an auxiliary fuel system that pumps 110 octane leaded race fuel through the NOS system. And, yes, I run an O2 sensor with feedback through fuel injectors for the 91, but the occasional lead bath doesn't seem to hurt it. BTW the 110 comes in through separate spray bars.

Push the button. Get a silly grin. What a deal!

My $.02. Ferget the octane boosters.

All the best,

Jim
