Default Nut in oil passage

Hi guys, in the process of replacing the retainers on the intake side, i accidentally dropped the valve adjustment nut into the oil passage next to cylinder #1. I've tried fishing it out with a telescoping magnet but came up with nothing. I know my other options are to drain the oil and/or drop the oil pan. The question is, is the oil passage big enought for the 10mm nut to go through or am I SOL? Any suggestions/inputs are appreciated. Thanks.

Yes. Drain the oil and try a magnet in the drain hole area. Worst case you'll need to remove the oil pan and possibly windage tray.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll drain the oil tomorrow. Hopefully the nut will come out with it. If not, I'll use the magnet near the drain hole as you suggested. I'll keep you posted.

You will likely have to remove the pan. Luckily it shouldn't be too much work

So before draining the oil, i decided to finish swapping out the retainers just in case I drop more stuff into the oil passage. Unsurprisingly, none of them were cracked However, I did find a rubber washer on top of cylinder #4. Doesn't seem like it belongs in there or on the valve cover. I'm assuming it fell in there when the valve cover was removed previously? What do you guys think?
