NRG Hood Damper install help
Okay...I havent even gotten past this part so who knows what comes after, but for right now I have to get past this very annoying stage. Pretty much, in the installation instructions it says that you install the damper by removing the lock pin on the ball joint, and then into the fender. Then you push back the lock pin firmly. I cannot get the pin back in! I tried just putting the damper on with the pin still attached, but that didn't work either. Here is a picture, I circled the pin.

You will not be able to get it on with the pin on.
You will however have to do it like the instruction say to, take the pins out and put the dampers on. Then put the pins back in. It works, I did it this way, but it was a bitch, especially with shaky hands.
Also fair warning, do not acidentally turn your windshield wipers on with the hood all the way up. Unless you like long paint chips.

Yup, gotta remove the pin, spin it around and should come off easy.
Also, make sure you pump the dampers several times before install (if new) or you could bend your hood.

Yeah, would you guys recommend putting the damper on the ball joint before actually screwing it onto the fender? I'm sure there is more room to work that way.

I just did the install last weekend.
Look inside the ball joint receiver (the one with the pin). There may be a ring inside that has come a little loose and is preventing the joint from seating deep enough in the socket. You won't be able to put the pin in if that's the case.
So take a flat-head screwdriver and look inside the socket. If you see a little silver ring sticking out a little, push it back inside the wall so the socket can receive the ball joint. Then when you're installing it, make sure the ball snaps all the way into the socket.
