noticed a weird smell when i launched the car
i was driving home today, and i've had the car for around 2 months now and never tried launching it, and there were no cars in sight so i gave it a go. i revved it up to 6k rpm and then let go of the clutch and floored it, and my car was just revving high and not getting any tire spin and it wasn't really moving that much, it felt like i still had the clutch pressed in a little, so and then when i shifted into second i noticed a weird smell -- like something was burning, but it didn't really smell like a clutch. i'm guessing it's something differential related
anyways, i'm NOT gonna do that again till i figure out what's up =X what did i do wrong? was i supposed to feather the clutch instead?

Feather? Um, no. You need to dump the clutch. However, you really shouldn't do this unless you know what you're doing. Clutches and diffs aren't cheap.

Yes, that was your clutch.

If that was the only time you did it, then your clutch will recover. You might smell that smell for a few more days. The problem is that you didn't let the clutch go fast enough or fully enough.
