notchy 2nd when cold, powertrain warranty?
Hello guys I have a 2005 S2000. When going into 2nd gear for the first 15 minutes of driving the 2nd gear is very notchy. After its warmed up its okay, but not a crisp shift. Is it possible honda would fix this problem for me under warranty(it expires in April)? I will admit that i did grind 2nd gear pritty bad a couple years ago when I first got the car, but I hear this is a common problem with S2000's so I am not sure what I would have to say in order for them to fix it for me.
Thanks
Dan

would TSB 05-009 apply? I seen it here https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/434...ar-tsb-05-009/ 7th post down by chuhsi

That TSB is for popping out of gear issues, not notchy shifting. Notchy shifting while the transmission is cold is very common with the s2k... but if you were abusing yours by grinding 2nd gear you may have damaged the gear and/or synchro for that gear. I doubt that Honda will cover the repairs, but only they can tell you for sure... not a forum.

Whens the last time your trans fluid was changed? The fluid is thick when its cold also so its not going to be as smooth when cold. Also make sure you clutch is good and properly bled. An old clutch will cause shifting problems also. But if your fluid may be old, id just change it, and see how it feels after that!

Definitely normal to be notchy when cold. You may want to regrease your shifter to help as you have already done a transmission fluid change. Also, timing your shifting will help.
