Unhappy Not as "torque-y"

So I was driving back home from school and my car didnt feel as torque-y as it usually was, (yes, i am aware that these cars have no torque to begin with) I floor it in 4th at about 6500 RPM and it doesnt throw me into my seat like usually would, so I was pretty worried. What worried me even more was that even when I let off at a high rpm I didnt lunge forward hard either and when I downshifted, it did slow down, but it again did not make me lunge forward or feel that surge of slowing down that engine braking usually gives you. any ideas as to what might be causing this? thank you.

I can only think of one thing that woild cause both those things, and its not good news. Loss of engine compression.

Do a compression test...

^ This, engine braking is engine braking it does not change from day to day.

Engine performance does change on any given day due to weather conditions and heat soak conditions, drive it again in a day or so and see if it feels different.
